Erdoğan makes statements against CHP every day. Now he targeted CHP municipalities.
While a religious government is being established in Syria next door and Alevis in our country are being targeted by reactionary circles on social media, I do not prefer debates and polemics within the opposition.
Some may say, “You were already criticizing the CHP administration.” Yes, I have criticized practices such as the normalization policy and I think I was right. But it would never be my preference for the CHP to fail. I wish it were very strong and I would be one of those whose criticisms are wrong. I would have no qualms at all. After all, I have neither a seat to lose nor any political expectations. I am just a journalist; I have been involved in politics since I was 18 years old and I believe that this country needs the power of the left.
But recently there have been more and more indications that the CHP has failed to make good use of its success in the local elections. Unfortunately, the current CHP administration is unable to set the agenda.
Kılıçdaroğlu was at least occasionally setting the agenda
There were many problems in the past too. Was everything perfect under Kılıçdaroğlu's leadership? Of course not! I also criticized some of the policies pursued during his term. I have them on my social media account. I do not delete any of my opinions, unless they contain false information.
But Kılıçdaroğlu, against all odds, sometimes managed to set the agenda and put the government under pressure from time to time. The march for justice, the Isle of Man documents, the corruption files, knocking on the doors of public institutions that were not doing their jobs properly, the campaign for the missing 128 billion dollars, the concept of a gang of five, and his ability to form alliances...
No agenda set by the CHP for a year
The CHP has not been able to set the agenda for a long time now. Think about it, is there any agenda or statement that has been set by the CHP in the last year that can be called “This is what has been bothering the government”? It's empty. The square is simply empty...
There may be those who think that this kind of behavior will bring more votes, but the polls do not confirm this either. In particular, it is not politically favorable for Erdoğan to go into the mode of giving advice to the CHP.
The CHP needs to get its act together as soon as possible. Otherwise, hopes will diminish even more.
