BTP Leader Hüseyin Baş Evaluated the Agenda at Eskişehir Congress
Independent Turkey Party (BTP) Chairman Hüseyin Baş attended the 9th Ordinary Eskişehir Provincial Congress of his party and made statements on the agenda. Fahri Gürgenburan was elected as BTP Provincial Chairman in Eskişehir.
“The Name of Criticism Has Become Insult, Incitement to Public Hatred and Enmity”
Drawing attention to the climate of criticism in Turkey, Baş said, “Expressing the wrongdoings of the government is considered ‘inciting people to hatred and hostility’. Criticizing the President is considered ‘insulting the President’. Whose interests does the law look after?” he asked.
“We don't do opposition just to annoy the government”
Referring to his party's understanding of opposition, Baş said, “Whatever we have objected to for 23 years, we have been right. We are in opposition to correct wrongs, not to annoy the government.”.
“Can Erdoğan be a Candidate According to the Constitution?”
Referring to the discussions about President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's candidacy again, Baş said, “Erdoğan was a candidate in 2014, 2018 and 2023 and was elected. According to the Constitution, a person can only run for the third time in a renewed election. Well, if you consider the early elections as renewed elections, the parliamentary term increases to 29, but the President can run for the third time, isn't this an inconsistency?’.
“Attention to Political Structure”
Referring to the “structure” debates in the football world, Baş said, “You should see the real structure in politics. There are always the same commentators in the same discussion programs. BTP cadres can shake the dust out of these debates, but there is no place for them.”.
“TÜSİAD's Attitude Favors the AK Party”
Referring to TÜSİAD's criticisms, Baş said, “Whenever TÜSİAD says something, it benefits the AK Party. Where were you in 2017 and 2010 referendums? Where were you when mines and factories were privatized?” he asked.
“I will never forget what happened to me”
Stating that he was the first political party executive against whom an investigation was launched in the middle of the night, Baş said, “I went to the testimony alone and came out alone. I will continue to serve my people, but I will not forget that loneliness.”.

Mustafa Şükür Aycı Joins BTP
Also at the congress, Mustafa Şükür Aycı, who resigned from the Future Party, joined the BTP. Aycı was presented his party badge by Hüseyin Baş.
