Secular Turkish-Kurdish-Arab-Ajem brotherhood is what this region needs
Right after the MHP Chairman's first speech, I came across an article in Yeni Yaşam newspaper that I would say was much worse than the AK Party Chairman's ‘ummah’ oriented speech.
In short, it was a royalist article that said Turks, Kurds and Arabs would gain a lot if they fought alongside the western alliance against Iran.
You often come across such articles and especially social media posts.
There is no shortage of people from Kurdish politics who disdain secularism, the enlightenment values of the republic and make comments with the mouth of the Ikhwanists. Of course, what we will look at here will be the central statements of the DEM Party. And most importantly, how they will respond to this ‘Islamic mortar and ummah’ approach...
Let me remind you that the DEM electorate, especially the left and secular base, no longer accepts the statements coming from İmralı, Kandil or the DEM Party Headquarters as gospel.
In other words, the AK Party, the MHP and the DEM Party can walk hand in hand for this process, but if the process is contaminated with such a reactionary and neo-Ottomanist sophistry, it will not get the support it expects from the vast majority of the population of this country, nor from its own base.
As a final word, there were two important messages in the last speech of the AK Party Chairman.
His message to Alevis ‘don't worry’ is important, but unfortunately not convincing. The second is the commission to be established in the Turkish Grand National Assembly to clarify the road map and principles...
But how can this happen in a process in which the CHP is being framed, democracy and the rule of law are being destroyed?
