How beautifully Orhan Veli wrote many years ago about those who make hamas in the name of the homeland and those who pay the price for the homeland.
It has not always been the homeland and patriotism that have been abused in this country.
The public also took part in this abuse.
When you look at it, it's ‘the people's';
It became a party
It became a bank
It became a screen
It became his bus, his bread, his training center, even his day.
What was the ‘people's’ day?
If there was a ‘people's day’ somewhere, whose were the other days?
This people liberated the homeland from captivity when the task fell to them.
This people saved the deceived governments from betrayal.
These people worked hard and made something out of nothing.
But whenever he completed his ‘mission’, those who claimed to be the ‘true owners of the homeland’ told the people to ‘go back to the stands’ and they played themselves.
We say that these people will not be spectators but players on the field.
This people will not be the ‘reserve force’ that stands at attention when you call them to duty, but the essential element that calls you to ‘duty’ when you need it.
Halkweb will be the voice of the people, the mouthpiece of the people.
He will recognize no power above the people, no value more sacred than the people.
He will act with the knowledge that there is no more sacred duty, no higher honor than being the spokesperson of this people whose labor creates both life and the country.
Of course, it will take its power from the people.
He will be in favor of the people, directness, justice and democracy. Because he will never forget that all of these are the basic needs of the people.
