President Erdoğan's appointment decisions were published in the Official Gazette.
According to the decision, Karadağlı was appointed as the general director of the State Theaters.
Karadağlı was on the agenda of social media with the way he presented the award to film actress Nihal Yalçın at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival in 2021.
Karadağlı, after the criticism, brought the issue to Yalçın's posts with the following words: “‘Freedom for Selahattin Demirtaş’ or something like that.”
Karadağlı also targeted the award speech of Merve Dizdar, who won the Best Actress Award at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. Dizdar had said the following in her award speech: ’I dedicate this award to all my sisters who do not bow down to what they are deemed worthy of, who take action, who risk everything for this cause and who do not give up hope no matter what, and to all the struggling souls in Turkey who are waiting for the good days they deserve.“
Karadağlı reminded Dizdar of France's occupation of Algeria and asked, “Does what he says apply to Algerian sisters? Or do they apply to the mothers of Diyarbakır whose children were forcibly abducted to the mountains? “ he said.
Karadağlı, who ‘caught the government's eye‘, had met with Batuhan Mumcu, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, in the previous days.
